A few years ago, I was having a conversation with my friend about my wedding day.
My wife was also having a similar conversation and she said, “Well, we’ll be spending our wedding night in Vegas.”
I looked at her with an incredulous expression.
We had been married for 11 years, and this was our wedding day?
The one where we were both celebrating?
This was our day?!
That was crazy.
We didn’t really understand what to say, but she kept going on about the different options and how the wedding would look like, but I just kept saying, “No, this is our wedding.
We’re going to do this.”
A few months later, I had the same conversation with another friend who had just moved into her new apartment and was wondering if she should wear her wedding gown.
It was a beautiful day for us and I thought, “I can’t believe we just said that out loud.”
But then we met another friend and she asked me the same question.
“Do you think you’ll get married this year?”
I responded with a big smile.
“I’m pretty sure we’ll get wed in Vegas.
The only thing I don’t think we’ll ever get is a ring.”
We’re living in the golden age of weddings, and while we’ve never seen anything like this before, I think it’s going to happen again.
It’s easy to think that a wedding day is a day where everyone’s in a better mood and everything is going to be perfect.
It’s not always that way, but there are plenty of wedding days that we’ve all had where we all had the most memorable moments, and I think there’s a growing acceptance of what that means to us.
I have a feeling that there’s going’t be a whole lot of weddings that are not going to have something to say about their day, and if you want to be the best you can be, then you better be able to say something that you don’t want to miss.
